Are your children between 18 and 24 and still studying? Submit their school certificate so that they remain recognised as dependents

With the new school year approaching, we would like to remind all parents with student children aged between 18 and 24 that those do not automatically remain recognised as dependents.

A school year in Europe and more specifically in Belgium usually runs from September to June. Notify the OSS by 30 September through a school certificate.

-18 years	A certificate is not required.	A certificate is not required.
From 18 to 24 years old inclusive	You are attending school in Belgium: the school will automatically notify your health insurance fund that you are still attending school.	You are attending school in Belgium: you have to request a certificate from your educational institution and forward it to the OSS.
	You are attending school abroad: you have to request a certificate from your educational institution and forward it to your health insurance fund.	You are attending school abroad: you have to request a certificate from your educational institution and forward it to the OSS.
	You are no longer attending school: please contact your health insurance fund.	You are no longer attending school: you are no longer recognised as a dependant (if employed outside the EEA, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, you can join the OSS yourself).
+ 24 years	A personal membership with a Belgian health insurance fund is recommended.	A personal membership with the OSS is possible if you exercise a professional activity outside the EEA, Switzerland or the United Kingdom.
